"Stop worrying about what others will think and start."
Today Bri Logue, the creator of The Women Empower Podcast shares her story of making the Entrepreneurship podcast.
► Tell us about you and your podcast
I’m Bri Logue, the host of The Women Empower Podcast. The Women Empower Podcast is a show for women who want to connect with others who are like them, entrepreneurs who struggled to get their business off the ground. My Podcast is a space where women can share what it's really like when you're just starting out. It can be so easy to feel alone as an entrepreneur, going through something new. I want women to know that there are so many other amazing ladies doing everything possible to make their dreams a reality! Join us on our podcast where we'll talk about how these incredible females have made ends meet despite life throwing all sorts of curveballs at them - from career changes or family issues - we are all in this together.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
When I first started my business, I was very lucky to have an amazing group of women around me. I want to do the same for other women and create a community that supports and lifts each other up as well as a platform to promote their businesses. I started The Women Empower Podcast at the beginning of 2022, it took me a few weeks to get everything set up and to figure out how to use the equipment, but after that, I have been consistent about putting a new episode out every week.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
It takes me about 45min to record the interview, via zoom, and about 30min to get it edited and ready to upload and go live. I then post it on every social media platform and always ask my guest to share it on theirs. I don't spend any money on advertising, I just make sure I am utilizing all organic search and organic social media. The only programs I pay for are canva to make the cover and clips every week and buzzsprout where I host my podcast.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
I get to connect with amazing entrepreneurs every week and help them spread the word about their businesses. I don't have any sponsors and it is something I'm looking into next year but at the moment I am happy with my small community, I get about 20-50 downloads every episode.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I use zoom to interview all of my guests and then I use audacity to edit and add the intro/ outro. I have set questions I send my guests and always do a pre-interview with them to get to know them before we record the podcast.
► How do you market your show?
I use buzzsprout and it puts my podcast out on all platforms, but I get the most listens from Apple Podcasts. Facebook and LinkedIn have been great to get my podcast out there in front of my audience, always using a CTA to get them to subscribe.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Just do it! Stop worrying about what others will think and start. Your first few episodes might be rough as you get the hang of it, but keep at it, it does get easier. Check out Audacity it's a free editing tool and it has really helped me get the process started. Canva is another great resource to use to make your podcast art!
