► Tell us about you and your podcast
Jaci Finneman, the heart and soul behind No-Problem Parenting™ and your go-to parenting advocate.
From toddler tantrums to teen eye rolls, attachment breaks, explosive meltdowns, and overwhelmed stressed-out parents, Jaci's been rocking this parenting gig for over 30 years, and she's here to share the real-deal tips and tricks outside of the therapy room. Parents looking for encouragement, tips, tools, resources, and guilt-free realistic free and affordable support that can be accessed from the comfort of their home.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
After spending 20 years in the mental health system, I left because of all the crazy rules they had for supporting parents. Like, why did a kid have to get a mental health diagnosis for their parents to get some help? It made zero sense to me. So, in 2013, I said, "Peace out!" and started my own parent coaching thing.
Fast forward eight years, and I was kinda bummed. Parents wanted my help, but the cost was a roadblock for some of them. So, I had this lightbulb moment and started a podcast in April 2021 to dish out tips and resources for free. Wild thing, within a month and just four episodes in, people were hitting me up to be guests! I was like, "How do they even know I have a show?" Curiosity got the best of me, and I've interviewed over 170 guests since then. I am loving all the resources that I'm able to share with my listeners. The show now offers one guest episode sharing a parenting-related resource and one where it's just me sharing a tip or story from my 30+ years of experience per week.
My mission? Still the same. Hooking parents up with resources, fighting their battles, and helping them kick guilt and frustration to the curb making parenting a little less pressured and a lot more chill!
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
Two episodes a week (hoping for 3 episodes or more in 2024), currently takes me 3 - 5 hours per episode depending on guest interview or solo episode. I still do my editing, but I have an assistant who publishes and shares the episode on social media.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
I have had a few sponsors/advertisers since October of 2023 and aim to gain more advertisers in 2024 to fund the podcast, making it 50% of my job. I have been a TOP 2% podcast since Jan 2023 and have no clue how since my monthly downloads are still barely 2k? My listeners are loyal, and I don't spend enough time looking at the stats, which is funny because I'm always showing guests of mine who have their own podcasts how to look up their show on listen notes. They're always like "What? I'm a top 10, 5, 2% podcast? I didn't know LOL"
I genuinely love connecting with other parenting advocates, sharing their resources, sharing my tips and am figuring out my place in the podcasting world one episode at a time.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
The hosting is Podbean, I use Audacity for editing, and guests find me (I can't keep up with the requests). I have a form guests fill out and am updating that for 2024 to be less formal and more fun. I interview guests via zoom but only use the audio.
