Help Busy Stay At Home Moms Feel Like Themselves Again
Podcast art is important, probably more important than a fancy microphone, so upfront invest in artwork or a good photographer instead of a fancy mic.
Today Danielle Reinhart, the creator of Prioritize With Purpose | Life Balance, Mom Guilt, Routines, Self-Care Ideas, SAHM shares her story of Self-Improvement podcast.
► Tell us about you and your podcast
You are not alone, mama! As a former corporate executive and recovering workaholic, to a stressed-out supermom who didn’t know the word NO, to a depressed anxious SAHM mom of two, to now ~ a mom enjoying my life as a mama and business owner ~ I share my journey and how I navigated (and am still) through it. If you feel like you're always behind, have endless to do lists, can't find time for yourself, feel mom guilt, struggle with being present and spend a lot of time wondering why you're not happy and how to change all of that, I've been there and we talk about what to do about it. I am a firm believer that we should always be growing, so we’ll learn together as well as hear from other moms who have been right where you are today and are now thriving. If you're ready to take control of your days, get the most important things done and be a more present mom who feels like YOU again, this podcast is for you.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I felt pulled to podcasting. Almost like God kept nudging me in that direction. I know I wanted more for myself and I knew I wanted to help other moms just like I had been, moms who felt so overwhelmed and alone, who wondered what was wrong with them and why they weren't happy, those who have so much guilt for wanting or doing anything for themselves. I loved listening to the Mel Robbins podcast but always figured there was no way I could do what she did or have a successful show. I will never forget one day on her show when I felt like she was talking directly to me and said that anyone could be a success at what they wanted to do and that the world needs you (me) to do the thing you're called to do and that your people will find you. She made me feel like I not only could do this, but that moms who are where I was, NEED me to do this. I still had no idea HOW to start, how anyone would find me or how I would ever have enough to talk about that people would want to hear. From there God took the wheel! I kept coming across things that would help me get started, from an online course I was given, to a friend sending me a podcast episode she thought I would love to listen to for the empowering content, but the host was offering a course on how to launch your podcast in 90 days! I signed up and my podcast was launched in 90 days. I made a promise to myself to be consistent and give it a year. Here we are a year and 6 months later and I'm getting ready to launch my coaching business.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I release 2 episodes per week, I was only doing one a week when I started. And each podcast takes about 1.5-2 hours to produce. I do it all myself. So it's about 15-40 minutes to record (depending on the length of the episode), about 45 minutes to an hour to edit, and then another 15-30 minutes writing the show notes, marketing and getting it published/distributed. I don't use any funding except I do have a monthly $80 that I pay for Zoom (which is where I record), my editing site/software and Podbean to distribute it.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
I wasn't looking to gain anything when I started the podcast, just to help moms. I hoped to create some kind of business out of it eventually, and this is where I am now as I start my coaching business. I have not thought about taking sponsors as I am not sure I would want to break up the content, I know I don't love when others have commercials so I am not sure I would do that. I figure the podcast is a great way to get coaching clients and plan to use it as a way to promote and monetize the podcast that way.

► How does your podcasting process look like?
I record my episodes the week I air them. I would like to batch them, but I have not done that up to this point as I like to keep it timely. I should batch record and knock out a few at a time one day when I get the itch to do that, but I haven't up to this point. I may have to start doing that as I take on coaching clients so that I don't feel stressed to record/air each week. But up to this point I have used Zoom to record and that is where I have recorded with guests as well. I have found my guests by listening to their shows or finding them online or through social media and reaching out directly to ask them to come on the show. And I prepare a list of about 15-20 questions ahead of time just to be safe. Some guests I only get to ask 7-8-questions and some you'll ask 10-12, just depending on the flow of the conversation, but I like to have plenty. When I record solo, which is what I do most of the time, I set an intention/theme for the episode and have an idea of the direction, and then press record. I have tried to put together an outline but I don't do as well that way. So sometimes I will have a preplanned story I want to share based on the theme and sometimes one will come to me while recording, but I like to record more off the cuff with a clear intention but not anything outlined or scripted.
► How do you market your show?
I use Podbean to distribute the show to all the listening platforms, but find Apple/iTunes to be the main place people find me. Their search function allows people to find me. I have keywords that resonate with my ideal listener listed after my show name to help them find me. I do promote my episodes on my personal social media accounts but have never paid for advertising/marketing. I do get a breakdown of the listeners and where they come from in Podbean as well, so that is helpful. I like to keep track of things so that I can see if the show is growing.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
I started with a podcast name that I loved (well still love) but wasn't being found by the moms that need my show. It was more of the end result of what the moms need instead of what they would be searching for when they seek out a podcast to help them. My advice is to be clear with your title on what your show does for the listener instead of having a catchy or fun name for your show. Podcast art is important, probably more important than a fancy microphone, so upfront invest in artwork or a good photographer instead of a fancy mic. Stefanie Gass is amazing at what she does, which is helping Christian women start an online business through podcasting. She helps you figure out what you should be podcasting about and start one, then monetize it. I have been in her courses for about 6 months and she has advised me on changing the show name and now to start a coaching business, I recommend her programs.
