Today Dawn Ledet, the creator of The Self Trust Solution shares her story of Self-Improvement podcast.
► Tell us about you and your podcast
Hi, I’m Dawn Ledet, The Self Trust Coach, and my mission is to help people break free from self-doubt, procrastination, and the endless grind, so they can achieve their goals with clarity, confidence, and ease. My passion stems from my own journey of overcoming self-doubt and learning to trust myself—a skill that changed everything for me, and I knew I had to share it with others. After 2 successful but painful decades in leadership, I’ve spent the last 5 years helping individuals transform their inner dialogue into a tool for success.
That’s why I created The Self Trust Solution Podcast. This podcast is all about uncovering the transformative power of self-trust and showing listeners how to apply it in their lives to achieve their biggest goals. I believe self-trust is the missing ingredient in so many people’s lives—it's what helps you stop overthinking, overcome procrastination, and find your way forward, even when things feel uncertain or overwhelming.
Each episode dives into actionable strategies, mindset shifts, and practical tools to help listeners navigate challenges, take decisive action, and create lasting success. I also bring on incredible guests—experts in health, relationships, leadership, and personal growth—who share unique perspectives and insights that align with our mission of building self-trust to fuel a life you love.
Our listeners are ambitious individuals who are tired of spinning their wheels, caught between hustle and hesitation. They’re professionals, parents, dreamers, and doers who know they’re capable of more but feel stuck in cycles of overthinking, self-doubt, or burnout. Whether they’re looking to pursue a big goal, overcome obstacles, or simply feel more confident in their decisions, this podcast offers the tools and support they need.
Ultimately, The Self Trust Solution Podcast is a space for anyone who wants to achieve their goals with clarity, confidence, and inevitability, while building a more empowered, fulfilling relationship with themselves along the way.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
Why did I start The Self Trust Solution Podcast? Honestly, because people need to hear this. Self-trust has been a game-changer for me and the hundreds of people I’ve worked with, and I couldn’t keep it to myself. It truly felt necessary to share—because when you build self-trust, everything in your life changes.
Ironically, I wasn’t always into podcasts. I used to listen to so many, but when I realized I was drowning out my own voice with other people’s, I went on a “consumption fast.” It was supposed to last two weeks, but it stretched into three years. Turns out, I had a lot I needed to hear from myself! But now, podcasts feel different to me. They’re not a substitute for my own wisdom—they enhance it. And that’s what I wanted this podcast to be for my listeners: something that complements their journey, not overshadows it.
My initial goal was simple: to connect. Social media and blogging were great, but they didn’t feel as personal. Talking directly to my audience and sharing the tools that transformed my life—and the lives of my coaching clients—felt like the right move. I launched the podcast on February 9th, 2023, after a couple of years letting the idea germinate. I had brainstormed two other podcast concepts before this one, but they didn’t quite click. Then, one day, The Self Trust Solution idea hit me, and I knew it was the perfect fit.
Once I decided, I jumped in headfirst. You can tell from the first episode—I had no idea what I was doing, but I wasn’t letting that stop me. That’s self-trust in action. And honestly, sharing this message through the podcast has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
Finding the time and resources to create The Self Trust Solution Podcast has been a journey of growth, learning, and practicing exactly what I teach: progress over perfection. I create the time and resources needed to make it happen, constantly refining my process along the way. It's all about working with where I am and upleveling as I grow.
I release an episode every week, and on average, it takes me about 2.5 hours to produce one. I balance weekly production with scheduled batching sessions a few times a year, which allows me to stay 6-8 weeks ahead of schedule. This system keeps things manageable and leaves room for other priorities in my life.
As for funding, I’ve self-funded the podcast from the start, and my expenses have evolved as I’ve learned more and expanded my resources. Early on, it was just me, some basic tools, and a lot of figuring things out. Now, I’ve invested in hosting, editing, and marketing support, along with tools that streamline production. It’s all been worth it to share this message and make sure the podcast continues to grow.
Ultimately, I treat this podcast as part of my mission, which means I prioritize it and make it happen. It’s a process that reminds me of why self-trust is so essential—and why I love sharing that message every week.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
At this time, I haven’t taken on sponsorships, though I’m open to partnering with meaningful, aligned brands or organizations in the future. For me, the podcast isn’t about revenue—it’s about impact.
Podcasting has been an incredible way to share my mission of building self-trust in the world. It allows me to refine and deepen my expertise while connecting with a wider audience who resonates with this message. Since incorporating guest interviews, it’s brought an entirely new level of joy to the process. I’ve had the privilege of building relationships with incredible humans who share a similar drive to serve and create positive change. Every conversation is both a learning opportunity and a way to expand the network of people committed to this important work.
Beyond that, podcasting is fulfilling in ways I didn’t expect—it’s a creative outlet, a platform for connection, and a way to keep growing alongside the audience I serve.

► How does your podcasting process look like?
My podcasting process is highly organized—I'm a spreadsheet fanatic and a Type A planner, after all! I plan the flow of my podcast topics anywhere from a quarter to a full year in advance, leaving room for inspiration and what I call "happy interrupters" to shake things up.
When it comes to guests, I’m fortunate to have a network of incredible humans in the personal development and achievement space. Sometimes, I’ll reach out individually, and other times, I’ll share a wish list of topics and invite aligned experts to connect. We always have a quick pre-chat to ensure there’s a natural fit and decide where their episode best aligns in the schedule.
My podcast episodes are intentionally short—I want listeners to incorporate what they’ve learned, not just consume it. Solo episodes average 10 minutes, while guest episodes run closer to 20. For guest interviews, we keep it focused with three tailored questions that align with the topic and the guest’s expertise, ensuring we deliver 3-4 actionable takeaways every time.
I follow a solid episode format to keep things concise, digestible, and valuable. Currently, all recordings are done via Zoom, and I use basic tools and software to streamline the editing and production process.
► How do you market your show?
Listeners discover my podcast through various channels, including guest appearances on other podcasts, social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, and exposure to my guests' audiences when they share episodes with their networks.
Currently, about 70% of my listeners come from iTunes. As for marketing channels, Instagram reels have proven to be the most effective at the moment. They allow me to share bite-sized, engaging snippets of episodes that spark curiosity and drive listeners to tune in. Social media, paired with the reach of my amazing guests, has been instrumental in growing the show.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
My advice for aspiring podcasters? Answer your desire with a resounding "yes!" If the idea of podcasting is in your heart, give it space to evolve. And if it doesn’t feel right after some reflection, that’s okay too—release it. But if it’s something you truly want, commit to making it a non-negotiable part of your week and prioritize it accordingly.
Start by simplifying and organizing your process. Overcomplicating things can make it overwhelming, so focus on taking small, consistent steps. Let yourself embrace the learning curve, and allow your show to grow and evolve naturally over time.
One thing I wish I had done differently is launching with more intentionality. I highly recommend putting together a solid launch strategy and outlining your first few episodes ahead of time. This will give you momentum and help you feel more confident as you start.
Above all, keep it fun, and remember: progress is better than perfection. Your voice and message matter, and someone out there is waiting to hear what only you can share!
