Today Barnaby Banks & Jamie Lisa Jacquemin, the creators of Shhh...Don't Tell Mum share their story of Parenting podcast.
► Tell us about you and your podcast
Unmarried couple Barney and Jamie have been together for 8 years and two years ago they became parents to Rokit. After posting daily mundane parenting like feeding, nappy changes they went viral on tiktok. As Barney was a Presenter and Mum 'Jamie' was a DJ they thought why don't they create long form content talking in depth about parenting and juggling work in a digital age.
Our Listeners range from 20 to 40 years old.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
Barney initially researched the idea of interviewing like-minded parents in a Podcast format, however having a young baby at home meant that travelling to interview parents all over the UK was not a realistic plan, so something closer to home was required. Barney asked Jamie if she would co-host the podcast, and it has become a therapeutic weekly conversation!
The goal of creating the podcast is to entertain and educate parents all over the world, and to bring joy to the mundane areas of parenting life.

► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
We post weekly episodes of our podcast, every other week we have a guest who is a parent, or in the baby business, for instance we have had a stepmom, a mum of two, a boy who wants kids that lost his father at a young age, covering various topics and stories.
We are both freelance so we act like it's a second job, we enjoy investing in the podcast as we believe it will benefit parents and parents to be, and bring relatable entertainment to all.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
We haven't earned anything from the podcast just yet. We didn't create this podcast to make money, we do it for the love of entertaining. We would love to advertise products we use and love to share discounts with our listeners. We currently have 15,000 spotify impressions. 3000 on apple and 47k on youtube. We love meeting new people, and young parents and listening to their stories and spreading their positivity.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
We started shooting at home in our home studio and then moved to a London studio so we could have more guests featured on the podcast.
We don't want to ever interview someone over zoom as it has a detrimental effect on delivering high quality podcasting!
► How do you market your show?
They find our show via our short form content on either youtube, Tiktok or instagram. We have had almost 10,000 people search our podcast on Spotify via our name which is pretty cool! We love all, it's great to be able to share our family content with tiktok, youtube and instagram.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Keep consistent and create good topics, explore podcast titles which are SEO friendly, captions and titles mean everything and we didn't realise the importance then nearly a year into creating and investing in the podcast.
